About Us

New Road Parents was started over ten years ago by Margaret.  The group was named because when the group started, she lived on New Road and because when their children come out to them, parents start a journey down a New Road. When Margaret retired from running the group in 2018, Chris took over as Chairperson having spent 12 months as co-chair. A management committee of five parents was also put in place to help run the group and continue the great work Margaret started. New Road Parents are a group of parents and carers in Worcestershire and South Birmingham area whose children have come out to them as Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Non-binary or Gender-fluid. There are other categories too. We may have more than one such child and they may have disclosed at any age from very young into adulthood. We believe that our children should be loved and supported regardless of their gender or sexuality. We aim to support parents and carers to help them and their families understand, accept and support their lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender members with love and pride.
New Road Parents is affiliated with FFLAG (Families and Friends of Lesbians and Gays)

AIMS OF THE GROUP
